Android guide and support

The Android editions are in testing and are not yet available for sale on Google Play.

Two independent vocabulary apps

Each app has its own vocabulary and saved progress. An iOS purchase or learning history does not automatically transfer to Android.

Android study controls

  1. On first launch, read the introduction and tap Begin. The bottom bar opens Today, Browse, Lists, Progress and Settings.
  2. In Browse, search words or definitions and filter by category and difficulty. Open a word to read all included meanings and examples. Use Favorite, Mark Known and Add to list to organize it. Opening a word records it as studied.
  3. From Today → Quiz, choose a vocabulary scope and start up to 20 four-choice questions. Select a meaning, tap Check answer, read the explanation and use Next. Quiz includes new and familiar words.
  4. From Today → Review, choose Random or Scheduled and a vocabulary scope. Review uses words you previously studied. If there are no studied words yet, use Quiz or Browse first. Tap Show answer, read the meanings and rate your recall with Again, Hard, Good or Easy. After a random review finishes, New random order starts another shuffled session.
  5. From Today → Applied practice, read the context and select the answer. GMAT questions and GRE text completion require one answer; GRE sentence equivalence requires exactly two. Tap a selected choice to deselect it, then Check answer and Next. Revisit missed questions from Lists → Mistakes.
  6. In Lists, tap New list, enter a name and choose Save. Use the pencil and delete buttons beside a list to rename or delete it. The remove button beside a word removes it from a custom list without deleting the bundled word. Add a term saves your own word and definition in My terms; use its Speak or delete button as needed.
  7. On a word's detail screen, Speak word reads its word and Speak example reads an example. Tap Stop to end playback. In Settings → English speech, choose United States or United Kingdom and adjust Speed. Test English speech checks the selected settings.

Both Quiz and Review offer All vocabulary, Level 1 · Foundation, Level 2 · Core, Level 3 · Advanced and Math terms. GMAT mathematics excludes geometry; GRE mathematics includes it. Learning records do not predict an exam score. Settings → Appearance offers System, Light and Dark.

Contact support

Email app-support@g-prep.co.jp in English. Include the app name, app version, Android version, device model and the steps that led to the problem. Remove personal information from screenshots before sending them.

Do not send passwords, verification codes or payment-card details.

Offline study and pronunciation

The included vocabulary, English definitions and examples, and saved local progress can be used offline. Pronunciation uses an installed Android speech service and its offline English voices. Voice downloads and online support may require an internet connection.

  1. Check media volume and Bluetooth or headphone output.
  2. Check the speech service and installed English voices in Android settings.
  3. Try the selected US or UK voice. The app can use another installed offline English voice when the selected regional voice is unavailable.
  4. If no supported voice is available, continue text study and install a suitable voice before trying playback again.

The apps do not record your voice.

Learning records and manual backups

Progress is saved separately for each app. A normal app update should retain it. If saving or reading progress fails, keep the existing data and contact support before clearing app storage.

Settings → Export progress creates a manual JSON backup using Android's file picker. You choose the destination, which may be local storage or a cloud document service. Exported JSON is not encrypted by the app; keep exported copies private.

Copy the file manually to another device, then use Import progress in the same Wordbook product. Check the preview before choosing Replace progress. GMAT and GRE backups are separate. There is no automatic synchronization, and exported files do not automatically stay up to date.

Reset clears the active learning profile after confirmation. A private recovery copy is retained before import or reset and has no automatic expiry. Resetting the active profile does not erase this copy or files exported elsewhere. Clear the app's storage through Android Settings to remove its private data together, and separately delete exported copies through their file or cloud provider.

Privacy

Read the Android privacy policy. It covers local records, speech services, manual backups, recovery copies, installation checks and support messages. The policy will be updated when data handling changes.

Google Play installation checks

Google Play may check that your copy was obtained through Google Play. Included study materials and local progress remain available offline, but the Play Store may need to reconnect if it has been offline for a long period. If an installation check appears, reconnect the Play Store and use the Google account that obtained the app. Keep your app data; clearing it is not a troubleshooting step for this check.
